When I bought this, it was advertised as an 8cr13 Camping Hatchet. That's good, hard steel, and, this is a good cleaver, but, it's no hatchet. I sharpened it for a long time, and, it's sharp. The cord was wrapped on the handle, fancy, but, it wasn't comfortable. I wrapped it the way it is, it feels better.
My neighbor said it would be a good hog skinner.
