Grade mare just turned 15 years old, has been rode very inconsistently her whole life so she still has tons of life left in her. Sound, fairly in shape and ready to go. She has all the basics of riding and ground work. Good to be bathed, has worn fly boots, blankets, etc. Have hauled her to arenas before, loads in trailer fine. Teeth, Coggins and Vaccinations done 1 year ago. This mare was born and raised on our property so we can tell you anything about her. Good strong hooves, never has needed shoes in pasture or arena. Extremely low maintenance, needs no grain, supplements or anything like that.
Saw the pole pattern for the first time 5/26, she’s a point and she will go there type of mare. Have lots of videos, just ask!
Pros:
She can ride all day on trails, through pasture, work cattle. She can cross creeks, ride in an arena around patterns, walk, trot, lope, back up, stand tied. This mare has never offered to buck or rear, neither has her mother. She focus’s when under saddle and is still very willing to learn.
Cons:
She is plenty friendly with people, does not bite, kick or anything like that, but she is not always the biggest fan of other horses. In a pasture she loves her mom and was fine with a baby we put with her, but does not like other horses. She is definitely the top dog in the pasture, would be great in a field alone.
When riding her, she has been just fine on trail rides with other horses but has also pinned her ears at other horses.
She is kind of hard to catch in a big pasture. Once you have her attention she only focuses on what you ask.
This mare has been with us 15 years, I have a bunch of horses so we’ve found it best to find her a new home. She would be a wonderful horse for anyone with some time, she improves every single day that she gets rode. She would get super consistent with more regular riding. Does not require a very experienced rider due to the fact she behaves well under saddle. This mare could go do anything you want, with a little bit of time.
